When you’re on vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is your hotel room. Whether you’re in for a quick nap or a full night’s sleep, make sure your hotel room is up to par by following our handy checklist!
You’ll be able to relax and enjoy your time away knowing that everything is taken care of back at the hotel. From making yourself comfortable on the bed, to ensuring there’s enough hot water for a bath at the end of the day- we’ve got you covered!
Inspect for Cleanliness:
The first thing you should do when you arrive at your hotel room is to give it a quick once-over. Check the sheets and pillows for any stains, hair, or other debris. Inspect the bathroom for cleanliness as well- make sure there is no mold in the shower and that the toilet is clean. Once you’re satisfied that the room is clean, you can start to settle in!
Sanitize:
The first and most important thing to do when you enter your hotel room is to sanitize! You never know who has stayed in the room before you, or what kind of germs they may have left behind. Sanitizing will help you feel more comfortable in the space and give you peace of mind.
Check Alarm Clock:
The last thing you want is to be woken up by a blaring alarm clock! Check that the alarm clock in your room is working properly, and set it to wake you up at a reasonable time.
Check the Mini-Bar:
The last thing you want is to be surprised by an unexpected mini-bar bill at the end of your trip! Check what’s included in your room rate and take note of any items that are not. This way, you can avoid accidentally consuming anything that isn’t complimentary.
Bedbug Check:
The last thing you want to find in your hotel room is a bedbug! To avoid any unwanted guests, make sure to do a thorough check of the bed and surrounding area before settling in for the night. Inspect the sheets and mattress for any signs of Bedbugs, such as dark stains or small dots. If you see anything that looks suspicious, notify the front desk immediately so they can take care of the problem!
Test Light Switches
One of the first things you should do when you get to your hotel room is test all the light switches. There’s nothing worse than settling in for the night only to realize that half the lights in the room don’t work!
If there are any issues with the switches, be sure to let the front desk know so they can send someone up to take a look.
Check the Thermostat:
Nothing is worse than coming back to a stuffy hotel room after a long day of sightseeing. Check the thermostat as soon as you arrive in your room, and adjust it to your liking. Most rooms have central heating and cooling, so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting the temperature just right.
Take Comforter Off Bed:
We know it’s tempting to just collapse into bed after a long day of travel, but take a quick minute to strip the comforter and sheets off the bed. You never know who slept in the bed before you and what kind of mess they may have left behind!
Put Do Not Disturb Sign on Door:
One of the first things you should do when you arrive at your hotel room is to put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. This will ensure that you won’t be disturbed by housekeeping or any other hotel staff.
By following our simple hotel room checklist, you can ensure that your vacation is off to a great start! A comfortable and accommodating hotel room will make all the difference in how you feel beginning and ending your day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your time away!
